Pantones Colour of the Year for 2020- Classic Blue - high eight home & living

Pantones Colour of the Year for 2020- Classic Blue

As we kick start a new year here at High Eight  and a new era. I thought it appropriate that my first blog for the year was about Pantones Colour of the Year- Classic Blue (not quite navy). Although I feel like blues have been around for a few seasons now in our home decor and interiors. It doesn’t seem all that new. I know I have been using it in homes in particular for- feature panelled walls, kitchen cabinetry and island benches, velvet occasional chairs, cushions and throws. I like this hue of colour it’s calming and can be either sophisticated or casual depending on the tone and style of home.

Here is the description and the thought process by the experts for the chosen colour this year. Which makes sense really why it would be used to introduce us into 2020:
“PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue
Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era”

I am going to include lots of pretty pictures in this blog that I have sourced from Pinterest to give you some inspiration and ideas on how to use this colour in your homes. It’s the start of a new year so you maybe planning a new build or renovation this year or you may just need to give a room in your home a lift or new look.

Also for all our paint enthusiasts Fusion Mineral Paint’s- Liberty Blue would be the ideal blue for this feature colour .

And don’t  forget I am always here to help you out in the world of interior design, styling and colour consulting if you get a little stuck.

Have fun and creative using this colour and I look forward to seeing your projects.

Soft furnishings and decorator items  is always a good starting point for introducing this colour eg. cushions, throws, ginger jars, a lamp shade etc

Love furniture items in this colour, especially velvet, whether it be in a sofa, occasional chair, bench seat or ottoman. Great statement pieces for living areas and the bedroom.

Feature walls – Painted or Wallpaper this option can work for both modern and classic.

Adding a splash a blue in your bathroom can look stylish with a feature tile in this colour, whether it be on the walls or on the floor. How modern does it look with gold tap ware? Or dare to be different with a blue bath?

We are in particular seeing blue cabinetry in Hampton or Rustic Farmhouse style kitchens. It looks magic with the combination of white and natural timbers.

If you are wanting to add a touch of blue to the exterior of your home then the front door seems the most obvious place and perhaps some planter pots filled with colour.

And for your reference here is Fusion Mineral Paint’s- Liberty Blue. See it even looks fab painted as an entrance door.
